Transit Connect Electric is well-suited for fleets that travel predictable, short-range routes with frequent stop-and-go driving in cities and have a central location for daily recharging. The electric vehicle will have a top speed of 75 mph and a targeted range of up to 80 miles on a full electric charge.
At 240V, the 28kWh Johnson Controls-Saft (JCS) lithium-ion battery back can be recharged in 6 to 8 hours.

Architects’ Guide to Glass and Metal
Sustainability and energy efficiency have become monikers for many of today’s retrofit and new construction building projects, and the Empire State Building is no exception. More than 6,500 windows in the iconic building are being upgraded by Serious Materials as part of an energy-efficiency retrofit project, which was announced last April.
Johnson Controls, a provider of energy efficient and sustainable products, services and solutions, selected Serious Materials to “super-insulate” the windows.

Johnson Controls, Inc. today announced that it has completed its previously announced public offering of $500 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes. The senior notes have an interest rate of 5.000% and will be due on March 30, 2020.
The Company received approximately $494.2 million of net proceeds from the offering after deducting underwriting discounts and commissions and other expenses of the offering. The Company intends to use the net proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes, including to repay short-term indebtedness that it has incurred to finance working capital requirements.
Banc of America Securities LLC, Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Barclays Capital Inc. and ING Financial Markets LLC served as joint book-running managers for the offering.

Smart Grid
The Demand Response and Smart Grid Coalition (DRSG) has announced that Ambient Corporation, Johnson Controls, Lockheed Martin, Boeing (News – Alert), EnergyConnect, CALMAC, and EnOcean Alliance are now members.
The coalition has stated that its objective is to educate and provide information to policymakers, utilities, the media, the financial community and stakeholders on how demand response and smart grid technologies such as smart meters can help modernize electricity systems and provide customers with new information and options for managing their electricity use.

Johnson Controls, Inc. has announced the acquisition of National Energy Services (NES), a lighting services company headquartered in Roswell, Ga. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The acquisition expands Johnson Controls lighting services beyond the school, healthcare and government markets it currently serves as NES provides lighting upgrade and maintenance solutions largely for retail, commercial, and industrial customers. The EPA web site says three out of four Americans have heard of the ENERGY STAR® label for energy efficient washers, dryers, computers and other electronics. The logo has great brand recognition overall. Not as many people know that energy-efficient buildings can show off the ENERGY STAR label too.
That’s something we are trying to change.
