Seventy Milwaukee teens, sponsored by Johnson Controls, (NYSE: JCI) are keeping busy this summer as participants of the Conservation Leadership Corps (CLC) summer youth employment program. Now in its fifth year, the Johnson Controls program promotes environmental stewardship, leadership, and teamwork skills through hands-on conservation projects in Milwaukee County parks. Johnson Controls donates $130,000 to support hurricane relief efforts in Monterrey, Mexico

Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) announced its donation of $130,000 USD to Hurricane Alex relief efforts in Monterrey, Mexico. Green teens: Conservation Leadership Corps returns to Detroit, provides summer jobs to 80 high school students

Eighty Detroit public high school students are participating in the Conservation Leadership Corps (CLC) – a summer jobs program promoting environmental stewardship and leadership skills development while working in the local parks. Created and sponsored by Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI), the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and The Greening of Detroit, the program is in its third year here.

“We’re proud to bring the CLC program back to Detroit,” said Charles A. Johnson Controls workers in Oklahoma raise money for Make-A-Wish

Employees at the Johnson Controls’ Unitary Products manufacturing plant in Norman recently donated $7,190 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma from money raised during a silent auction of York, Coleman and Luxaire air-conditioning equipment.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Johnson Controls releases annual business and sustainability performance metrics

Johnson Controls today announced the release of its latest Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) online sustainability report. The online matrix provides a detailed review of the company’s financial, environmental and social performance over the past year.  

The matrix complements the company’s 2009 Business and Sustainability Report, which was released in December 2009 and is available in six languages. The GRI reporting framework provides companies with a uniform and transparent set of metrics to systematically report on sustainability initiatives and results.

The matrix offers a quick, easily accessible database of the company’s results in 2009 across a broad range of topics.  Highlights include:

Steve Roell, CEO of Johnson Controls presented UNCF – the United Negro College Fund – a $100,000 contribution in support of the UNCF Wisconsin Student Aid Program. The Program targets entering freshmen as well as upperclassmen enrolled in UNCF schools, who continue to have a financial need even after Pell grants, scholarships, work-study aid and family contributions have been applied to students’ accounts. Often an award of $2,000 – $3,000 can be the difference between a student making the journey to college or having to defer their dream.
