Buddy Watters, general manager in the controls division in Jeddah, says that the product acts as an information platform, bringing together the diverse strands of information to create a holistic view. “So it’s not just for the air conditioning but all other forms of information, for lighting, the IT network, security system,” he says.

Bradford County, PA to save an additional $800K from its guaranteed energy savings project

Bradford County will save $800,000 more than anticipated through its ongoing $3 million project to make its buildings more energy efficient, county officials announced on Thursday.

The county will issue $3 million in bonds at a low interest rate to pay for the project, and the interest payments on the bonds are $800,000 less than had been anticipated in June, when the cost of the project was announced, said Joan Sanderson, Bradford County fiscal director.

Johnson Controls selected by German Army for an energy performance contract at their Oranienstein base

Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), the global leader in delivering products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, announced that it signed an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) with the German Army for the Oranienstein base. Following the project the German Army will be able to cut annual energy costs for the base by 49 percent and further reduce its emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) by 55 percent. Buddy Watters admits that just when the Johnson Controls expected to enter a quiet summer period to catch its breath, the opposite has occurred.

The US company, which offers systems that coordinate air conditioning, lighting and other areas of internal facilities, has been “fully engaged in jobs” and the seeming endless opportunities in Saudi Arabia afforded by the recent investment in construction and infrastructure.

Port Huron, Michigan’s energy fixes seem justified

Cities are paying more attention to energy efficiency these days. In a poor economy when public dollars are increasingly scarce, cutting such costs is good policy.

Port Huron has joined the effort. The City Council agreed last month to hire Johnson Controls Inc. to replace nearly all Port Huron’s exterior lights, except street lights, and upgrade HAVC (heating, ventilating and cooling) systems in some municipal buildings.

Missoula, Montana City Council gives green light to $1 million in energy conservation work

Let there be light – new light bulbs along Missoula trails.

Let there also be an estimated $2.6 million saved in city power bills, operations and capital expenses in the future and over the course of 15 years.

Johnson Controls puts its money where its mouth is on the estimated savings. A company spokesperson could not be reached Tuesday for comment, but Stucky said Johnson Controls guarantees the savings it estimates in its study.

South Carolina Bank of America building certified by US Green Building Council

The Bank of America Plaza may look the same on the outside, but big changes on the inside made it more energy efficient.

On Tuesday, the owners and tenants of the building celebrated it being recognized as the first existing building to be certified LEED Gold by the US Green Building Council.

Michigan township approves energy-efficiency projects for buildings

The Cooper Township Hall and fire stations soon will be getting energy efficiency makeovers done by Johnson Controls of Kalamazoo.

The township board voted 6-0 Monday to approve performance contract proposals, which are anticipated to save the township $33,485.
