Hispanic teens in Michigan find Johnson Controls job anything but dull

What seemed like a drab desk job at Johnson Controls Inc. came alive for Holland High School sophomore Abimael Bramasco after talking to an employee.

“I didn’t know they could get to travel a lot, go to China to talk about the product,” Bramasco said. “It sounds kind of cool.”

Efficiency program focuses on buildings

State and local officials expect word next month on a proposal to greatly expand the retrofitting of buildings in an effort to save energy and create jobs.

The proposal seeks $65 million from the federal stimulus package to develop new financing models for a major expansion of energy efficiency efforts in Milwaukee, Madison and Racine, said Judy Ziewacz, head of the state Office of Energy Independence.

Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corp., the Madison-based non-profit group that runs the state Focus on Energy program, and Johnson Controls’ Milwaukee-based building efficiency business are partners on the $65 million grant application.

Senators announce ARRA funding to get people ready for green construction jobs in Maryland

Plan announced to accelerate Wisconsin’s green economy

Governor Jim Doyle today was joined by business leaders, labor, legislators and environmental organizations as he launched the Clean Energy Jobs Act, a landmark legislative package to accelerate the state’s green economy and create jobs.
