UW-Oshkosh ranked 35th nationally for sustainability efforts

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh continues to be recognized as one of the nation’s leading green campuses.

Following a comprehensive and sophisticated carbon-footprint study conducted by Johnson Controls, the University recently established one of the nation’s most aggressive Climate Action Plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.

Buddy Watters admits that just when the Johnson Controls expected to enter a quiet summer period to catch its breath, the opposite has occurred.

The US company, which offers systems that coordinate air conditioning, lighting and other areas of internal facilities, has been “fully engaged in jobs” and the seeming endless opportunities in Saudi Arabia afforded by the recent investment in construction and infrastructure.

There is “money to be saved and money to be made,” said Roell, in the adoption of greener energy practices.

Rebound in energy efficiency spending predicted by new Johnson Controls Energy Efficiency Indicator

In today’s economic climate, the casual observer might not expect much investment in energy efficiency upgrades, renewable energy technology, or green building this year.

Yet results from a new study suggest that 60% of building decision makers plan to invest in energy efficiency, 31% are considering solar energy projects, and 33% are targeting green building certification for new construction projects.  In fact, 32% of executives say that they actually invested more in energy efficiency because of the recession over the last 12 months. » More: Rebound in energy efficiency spending predicted by new Johnson Controls Energy Efficiency Indicator

Johnson Controls releases annual business and sustainability performance metrics

Johnson Controls today announced the release of its latest Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) online sustainability report. The online matrix provides a detailed review of the company’s financial, environmental and social performance over the past year.  

The matrix complements the company’s 2009 Business and Sustainability Report, which was released in December 2009 and is available in six languages. The GRI reporting framework provides companies with a uniform and transparent set of metrics to systematically report on sustainability initiatives and results.

The matrix offers a quick, easily accessible database of the company’s results in 2009 across a broad range of topics.  Highlights include:
